Castrol Edge 15,000 mi filter?

I'm about to have an oil change done and want to use Castrol Edge, it promises 15,000 miles of service life are there any filters (elements in our case) that can match this service life, I'm probably gonna use a Pur One.

2008 LT1,cardinal red metallic. 5 speed w/ABS,2.2L., GMPP air box and performance exhaust plus a Fitch fuel catalyst. Black chrome grille, door handles and 17inch wheels. Color match windsheild visor, running boards, mud flaps, black powder coat lower bumper grille. Cashmere leather interior. Debaged(no chicklets, hhr or lt) just gold bowties.

I use the edge and have in a couple of hhrs....15,000 is a little long on this oil....if you look at after around 5,000...it is getting black it is time to change it....I use the oil life setting and when it gets down to 25 percent it is time to check it and change same...

Regardless of the filter brand, or construction of said filter, 15K is way too long for a filter in a small displacement four like we have in the HHR.

Oil and filters are a small fraction of the cost of potentially having to rebuild or replace your engine Jonny, its a false economy in my opinion to stretch service intervals to the extreme.

Absolutely agree with that. I change mine every 5000 or when it is at 50% oil life. I use a high milage oil as well and a fram platinum filter. 15,000 is way to long in my opinion.

A three year old thread - any advice to the original poster is likely to go unread. And I just hate having to change my oil yet again ;-)

All of the cars that I have had 3000 miles oil change, the last one I let it go to almost 5000 miles, cheap insurance, A 5 quart of Mobil 1 at Wal-Mart $ 25.00 plus filter for a do it yourself. I dont feel safe at 3000 miles, if anyone has torn down an engine, even 3000 miles.
