driver lock and windows don't work
#12
Thanks I found the plug in the door jam. Looking for more info on how to get to the loom. I watched a video for a Mazda I think removing the door to unplug the loom connector. From what I can see it looks similar to the HHR. Tried to unplug it with the door on but couldn't get a grip onto it, should the door be taken off to get the plug undone?
Did some test today. Took a lead wire from the BCM and brought it over to the switch and put it with the green wire that should be power. Good news is the windows all go up and down from the driver door switch. Bad news is that the 3 other doors switches do not make the windows move.
Also I got the new speaker for the drivers door in today and now I have the annoying chimes.
Could my problems be the BCM? Does anyone have the wire diagram for the BCM?
Thanks again
Paul

Computers are not trying to take over. I can think of 1 time the BCM was at fault for anything.
I wonder if the previous owner did some customizing, like auto close windows etc with an add-on system.

I doubt that they did customizing, he only had it for a little over a year and he wanted to work on a car less, so he bought a 2 year old jeep. And before him the original owner only had remote starter put in.

"had remote start put in" that is the exact customization I mean. They came from the factory with remote start unless it was a fleet (rental) vehicle ordered with RVS deleted. Some after market systems mess with the windows and locks.

Oh, I didn't think it would be the issue, seeing it has been installed for years and the windows not working is resent?

I suggest you start tracing from the fuse that you know is hot. Somewhere in between you’’ll find the bad connection.

Yeah but, your first thought is the BCM that was installed in the factory and rarely malfunctions. As if after market stuff from eBay installed by "my pal Joe" never causes a problem.
If this just recently became a problem you should look at what happened just before it started.

Greg, you post that advice a lot. And while it's usually a good idea, probably at least 95% of people don't have a good scan tool, don't know what the phrase even means, and wouldn't know how to use it anyway. But in this case, the wiring diagram pretty much rules out the BCM.
