What would happen if driving hhr without the air intake hose on? I noticed my hose was all raggedy and unravelling when i was changing oil and putting in new plugs. Just curious as to what will happen if i drive it anyways without that hose?

It won't get cooler air from the fenderwell area. It will be getting hot engine compartment air instead.


Will it throw a code? I don't know.

Should not cause permanent damage. You can replace it with a bit of 3" dryer vent hose from the your l;ocal HomeDepot/Lowes etc.

You won’t set a code but the warm air will hurt your mileage, so, replace it with dryer flex hose the metal type a 3” diameter one will work.

Ok, thanks. What about the flex pipe? Is there a quick band aid fix that can be done temporarily?

Duct tape, I’ve seen someone use safety pins , another sewed it back together with fishing line.

And no quick easy cheap fix.

That flex pipe is best repaired by replacing the catalytic converter pipe, only 3 studs and 2 bolts, an then the O2 sensors.

The Wooley Worm hose is just stapled into flexible rubber fittings at each end. I removed the staples and hose from the fittings then went to Lowes and bought a 2" PCV Slip coupler which fit perfectly into the fitting. I then bought 18" of a 3" ID "GS" industrial duct hose made by a company named Flexaust and used hose clamps to attach the ends. Their GS is a 2 ply silicone coated fiberglass fabric product good to 550°F
