Dual Action Polishers

Dual Action Polishers
I posted this over at FSFBA in a thread about buffers. I been detailing cars fo a while, mainly my own but some on the side. If you get a D/A machine you too can achive professional results. Or you can take it to a paint shop or pro detailer and he can use the real deal Orbital. I know how to, but they scare me. Orbital is nothing but a high speed grinder in the wrong hands. If you gonna use a buffer for just taking the hand work out of a wax job go D/A. Lowes or Home Depot have the Porter Cable 7427 for under $150

Edit : Porter Cable has changed the model number for Lowes here it is and is 139$

Then you want to get a Bacikng pad to allow you to use waxing pads

All the parts you need are listed there. I use Meguairs Professional (tan bottle) stuff. If the car has some light scratches and rain spots i start with a cutting polish on a medium setting. Make sure the car is still a little wet and the buffing pad is damp( use a red meguiars pad). Use a good Micro Fiber or a very good bath towel, Like Cannon, to remove the residue. Then switch uo to a regualr polish on a faster setting (on a yellow pad) then use a good wax (on a light tan pad). It seems like a lot, but after a while if you keep up on it you will only need to just use the buffer to appay the wax. If the car is really dirty before washing, clay bar down the car before starting the procedue. That way you get all the nasty bits of crap off the paint. always make sure the buffing pads are damp. I now use Zaino on my Camaro and soon the HHR, but i still use my D/A to speed application.
