Frozen doors
For all you in the Rust belt
What do you use to keep your doors from freezing shut ?
I have read a few hint and Silicone seems to be the norm , BUT some say it dries oout the weather stripping.
Some use WD 40 but hear the rots the rubber
Online have not found anything specific !
Thanks

I'm far South of the rust belt, but:
WD-40 is for water disbursement. Avoid that. Silicone spray wiped after added to cloth, works well. I've been using it on my Panel since '09, seals still look new..

If the door is stuck, dont yank on the plastic door handle. Try to get your fingers on top edge of the door to pull on. That's pretty much where its frozen anyway. Jut replaced a door handle on a different vehicle for that reason.

We have cold winters, so we fight freezing with silicone. And exactly the way Oldblue described it. The same should be done after washing (and not only in winter).
Blow out the lock with compressed air. Some people inject WD40 into the keyhole, but this is not very good - WD40 tends to collect road dirt on itself and after a while there is real black porridge in the castle.
If your door is frozen, pour hot water on the door. I always have a couple of plastic bottles in the house for different needs. If my door is frozen, I just go home, fill a bottle with hot tap water, and just water the door. Even in severe cases, 1-2 liters is enough. Pulling the top edge with your fingers also helps, but if the freezing is significant, you can damage the seal.
