headlight

Hey James, welcome aboard! Yeah the bulbs in the front of an HHR can be a pain to change, but try a search of the forum and you'll find plenty of tips. As much as I like the streamlined looks of these new composite lights, there are days that I'd like to bring back sealed beams.

My biggest problem with a change was the rubber o-ring came out of the bulb base ans stuck to the housing. I tried for about 2-hour to get the new bulb in.
So I took the old bulb and compared it to the new one and noticed the o-ring missing on the old bulb.
Reached in the liner, pulled off the o-ring, and inserted the new bulb in 15 seconds.

Never heard of or even thought of the "old double o-ring mess" on a headlight bulb. Really a new one, but I feel your pain, I really do. I've had the old style double o-ring mess happen on a 350 Chevy, nothing like spewing five quarts of oil out in 10 seconds to make your day.
