How hard to change trans fluid?
2011 with 2.4L auto. I have not done any trans service on any newer cars so not sure what to expect. How hard is it to change filter? Local shop who does great work said $140.00 for everything. But curious if I can do it myself without special tools an save money. Thx.

Type "changing transmission fluid" into the search box and several threads will come up detailing the exact how-to. Other search terms will get several other threads.
Bottom line: do you mind getting ATF all over yourself and your floor, then it's fairly easy. $140 for ATF & new filter is a fair price. The Dexron VI will run about $50, filter & (good) gasket will run about $30.
Read your Owners Manual for the recommended change interval. Mostly doesn't need it.

10-4 . I'm at 50,000 miles an it's never been serviced so it's due.

I changed mine about 122,000 miles or so. I found a large plastic storage container about 6 inches deep and wider and longer than the transmission bottom AND it had wheels on it. My wife bought it at Walmart years ago. The procedure is easy to follow and I added the amount of fluid called for in the repair manual/owners manual. Make sure to torque the pan bolts as they will compress the gasket and it will leak otherwise.
It was easy to do, no mess or spills.

I just remembered I found a series of pictures of some Russian (?) mechanics, somewhere on the East Coast that showed in detail how they did it. They had a pit to stand it where I used the large plastic clothes container. If you search you should be able to find them.
