Oh........in the 2 month statement you were talking about Dexron VI and I took that to mean Dexcool.

The Dexcool problems he speaks of seem to be more prominent in the the earlier vehicles that used it, mainly those with 3.1L, 3.4L, 3.8L, and 4.3L engines. The main cause was either operating vehicles for long periods of time with low coolant levels or mixing it with green (or other) types of antifreeze. I've dealt with several Dexcool vehicles without ever experiencing coolant related problems.

@: His flush comment had to do with transmissions. I'm not really sure on that one either. I've flushed a handful of transmissions in my time and it didn't lead to failure in any of those cases. I think that the ones that do fail after flushing were already headed down that path prior to the flush.

Even though GM service department routinely "recommend" trans flushes GM put a TSB out advising against any flushing. Go figure....profit center?

DexCool does indeed tend to do odd things when it gets too hot. You will find pebbles in your overflow tank and when you drain the system; it also tends to form a gel in an attempt to seal leaks. I have personally experienced those problems. And it does not mix well with "green stuff".

Thanks db.....for clarifying.

I was referring to the trans flush. I should have added more explanation when I added the "oh" comment.
