Guy at auto zone said 5....want to be sure!

I'm guessing we have the 2.4l but how can I be sure?

And BTW I put 3 quarts amsoil 5w30 and 2 quarts mobile one 5w30 cause I can't find amsoil anywhere around here...and we had 3 quarts of it lying around for some reason. should be ok right?

EDIT: forgot to mention that it's flexfuel...

Then you have a 2.2L, the LE8. I think it lists 5 quarts from dry, but its probably 4 and about a third when changing.

Thanks! Took 5 whole quarts no problem changed the filter too. And I let it drain for a long time.

Can't argue with the 8th Vin #.
Another location is under the hood (drivers side back) is a Emissions tag, that lists the engine size & year of the ride.. fyi.

And to the 3 / 2 mix of oils, that won't hurt anything.

Mixing those oils shouldn't hurt anything.
But, it's not the way to practice good maintence.
Get the correct fluids/parts and do it right the first time.

Mixing 2 brands of oil is nothing to worry about and will never effect anything.

Whenever you're in doubt about how many quarts of oil a car takes, as your re-filling, just check your dipstick before you pour in more oil. That is a lot quicker than going on a forum and having to ask and wait for an answer. In less time than it takes you to walk away from your vehicle and type out your question, you could have already had your answer.

I'm sorry, but your post made me chuckle a little bit to myself. I'm not trying to be mean or insult you or anything so PLEASE don't take it that way, but with questions like this, it sometimes makes me wonder "why did everyone lose their common sense once the internet was invented?"

Anyway...... Glad you got your answer and thanks for giving me a good little laugh to start my day

Owner Manuals have all of these answers and more in a convenient printed format. They are available from whoever sold you the car, any GM dealer, online on this very website. Get one, it will be worth it.

Not everyone uses the dipstick to refill after changing. Some use the specs or experience and put in the proper amount.
