Jump start question
I had a fellow HHR owner ask me if it is ok to jumpstart the HHR from the battery itself not the forward location under the hood. I know the manual says to use the location under the hood but nothing about jumping from the battery itself in the rear cargo area. Any thoughts?

The big deal is getting a chassis ground, never had to jump start one, but here's a thread on battery jumping.

Just easier to jump under the hood I guess, especially if you carry a lot of stuff in the back as I do.
I have never jumped mine but charged it under the hood.

Wonder how many folks were injured or even blinded by exploding batteries?

exploding batteries were a problem with the old style cap batteries..were always venting and spewing gasses..had to periodically flush off the batt top to keep the crap from corroding everything.,,dont hear much about it now. Sure it still happens but then your not supposed to be sitting there striking the cables across the terminals to see it there is spark. Pos cable first then neg..always place neg cable to frame or block, that way if it sparks it goes to ground and not sparking across the batt top.
