Which Key FOB do I need???

I only received one FOB with my HHR, lately it has started to act up (doesn't always lock or unlock on first attempt even when standing at car) which is probably the battery which I'll change tomorrow. Even if it is just the battery, I want at least one extra FOB. But, I'm not sure which one to order???

The GM part number on the back of my FOB is 15913421, but everywhere I try to buy it, they say "do not purchase" because it is "incompatible with my vehicle". And yet, this is the remote I've been using since day one...

Should I just get the same part number, or the one they all recommend 15114374 ???

The key fob you have can be repaired by replacing the the rubber pad. I have had good luck on ebay.

If you get a new remote you have to get the car programed at the dealer for it to work.

There are aftermarket key fobs out there that comes withe a module to program it yourself but they cost a little more.

As far as the number on the back of the remote the fob you have my have had the case changed out in the past so calling the dealer to get the part number would be your best bet.

How many button on your fob?

Go through the option in your DIC personalization menu, if there is a remote start option get the fob with remote start button.

Personally, I would get one of the fobs that comes with a programmer. That will save you a trip to the dealer$hip.

GM says 15114374 (with remote start - not "really" needed here in Florida, but if we do ever get sub-freezing temps, it's a nice thing to have), so I just ordered a 15114374 FOB with programming tool through Amazon Prime.

Next up on on the wish list.... new front grills!!!

I don't see the OE GM fob with a programming module. All I see is the $82 APDTY.

APDTY 24847 is the one I got, but I only paid $59, also got the new battery cable for my Hyundai Accent, so hopefully, I can sell the Accent for a decent price pretty soon & get my new grill for the HHR and pay off a couple bills
