Need expert advice

We got a 2007 hhr from my father in law back in September. First oil change in progress right now. Fiddling around with everything else while it's draining.

I can't find this air filter setup anywhere online lol. I'm guessing it's some after market thing. Does anyone recognize this setup and what kind of air filter I'm looking for to replace

Looks like no filter, if the end near the fender goes into the hole in the fender. A K&N cone filter might be in the darkness. If it is the oiled type you just need to clean and LIGHTLY re-oil it.
Don't forget the cabin filter it has probably been there since 2007. Owner Manual is free via link in my sig.

I can pull it off if that helps. It doesn't go into the fender....there's a filter on the end there. I've never done a clean and re-oil air filter...is there a thread on here somewhere for that lol

There's the filter if that helps any

Take it to an auto parts store, they can recommend a new one, or sell you the oil if it's a reusable one. Instructions for re-oiling are probably on the packaging.

It’s washable, don't replace it. Get the K&N filter cleaner kit.

I spray the cleaner on the outside only , then rinse with garden hose from the inside out, let dry overnight and never ever use compressed air to blow dry it!

Too much oil will foul the MAF and cause all sorts of problems. Follow the directions.
