I had a look with a boroscope, the intakes aren't caked like in the turbo engines, but the oil consumption killed my catalytic converter.
The test was last October after I changed the timing and balance shaft chains.
My oil isn't filling up the catch can, I did move the catchcan down and over to the engine lift loop by the upper engine mount.

OP may have much different compression results.
