Does anyone have any tricks to remove wax residue from the grey plastic grille insert and from the lower intercooler grille. I noticed that I had gotten more wax on these parts than I thought after my first wax of the season. Thanks, G.B.

 

Try peanut butter, I've used it on my other car and it worked there!

 

Don't put it on in the first place it is hard to get off!!!! just don't do it!!!!!

I use detailer spray and a rag. Also I have heard of people using WD40 but I have not used that before.

I seldom get it on the black trim anymore since I found out how hard it is to get it off. Things like that hit me every time the wax gets close.

Also a soft tooth brush and detailer has worked for me in the past.

 

Try Turtle Wax Ice, it doesn't leave any visible residue. It works for me.

 

Use paint thinner (NOT LAQUER THINNER). Some call it mineral spirits. Similar to kerosene it's not strong enough to affect the plastic, but will eliminate the wax. I usually follow up with one of the plastic protectorants.

 

When using mineral spirits or WD-40 and both do work, make sure to use a degreaser like simple green after. Mix it to and extremely low concentrate like 10 parts water to 1 part SG. Then wash the area with normal car wash.... Turtle wax ice is good, but if your gonna polish a car or need to use or like a certain type of wax just tape the areas off with green painters tape like an auto body shop would use. Tape is in paint section of any part store and 15 mins of taping can make a polish job even go quicker since you won't need to slow down to be careful of areas.

It is what I do every year and what I did when I worked in a detail shop in my early 20's..

Found out about it on here, and LOVE IT! It works great!!!

 

Back to Black is great, but it is for fading not covering a wax. Most shops use it that way to hide wax mistakes from customers just to get car out the door until the next time. :) trust me I know that trick. Seen it first hand. You must remove the wax or the back to black will eventually come off. It is a coating so you need to have a clean surface to get a good application to sit right.... same as above to just remove the wax and prep surface for back to black

 

Oh really? I've only used it once so far, but it looks better. Hmm...well, I guess I'll worry about it when it comes back, lol.
