Runny Black stuff

The rear door window frames leach black from the rubber moulding. The stuff gets on my white paint and hazes the window. All this requires extra cleaning. An important note, I wash using Mr. Clean Car Wash. I've tried others with the same effect. Window cleaners do the same thing.

Just an idea, someone may have lubricated the window channels with a graphite lube to keep the glass from "squeaking" as its run up and down. Try leaning the window channels with a cotton or foam swab soaked in window cleaner or alcohol, just be careful if you use alcohol as its murder on your paint and wax job.

I will try cleaning out the channels. However, when I wipe the rubber moulding with a wet towel, the black transfers directly onto the rag. It appears that it is impregnated in the actual rubber window trim. Maybe the dealer used something to detail the rubber.

Also a possibility, there used to be, or still is a product called "Back to Black" for detailing rubber moldings and bumpers. It would stain lighter colored paints when it washed down over them in the rain.

Wow I think you got a raw deal. Last time I seen something like that a buddy did it to hide dry/cracking rubber.

They all sorta do it when you wipe them-on almost any car. Sun does wonders on rubber. I use Turtle Wax Premium Trim Restorer. Follow the directions to a t and you won't have any issues.

I think that it is the Mr. Clean product. I also have one of those and it turns my sponge and/or towels black.
