Service for 30000 miles
Hi All, I love my 2006 HHR, but I am having rotor problems. It's in the dealer's today for new rotors and a service (already had the 30,000 mile service). They are telling me a need a coolant system flush, my rear brakes cleaned and a transmission service, all for $375!!. I have a feeling I'm being overcharged or doing unnecessary service - any opinions?

So how many miles since the 30K visit? And did they do any of the mentioned service then?

As per owners manual (these books do serve a purpose, you know):
Auto trans service is 50K (for severe usage)
Cooling system flush is 150K
Brake inspection & cleaning is not a bad idea, if it was never done.

Is this a Chevy Dealer? Some dealers are more about the service revenue than what is actually needed for your vehicle.
I would recomend that you eyeball your owner's manual for the service intervals for:
* Transmission - Manual Page 6-6 indicates 50,000 miles - severe duty only
* coolant system - Manual Page 6-6 indicates every 5 years or 150,000 miles
whichever comes first
Following GM's service intervals (from the manual) are sufficient!

Thanks. Yes, it's a dealer, and I've only got 33000 miles on the car. I think I will let them go ahead and do the service, but after that I'm switching dealers.
I HAVE been a long-time lurker ;-) I've been a member since I bought the HHR, but I am just naturally a quiet guy ;-)

If they check the brakes at 30K, as they should have for routine maintenance, and didn't suggest it then, I would definately start using a different dealer for any/all servicing.

Rear brake service is part of 30K service! If this dealer did the 30K they why are they trying to sell you something that they should have done 3K back. Have them ck your service file. That is also something that should have been done when you took your car in. No wonder dealers get a bad rap

My HHR just hit 30,000...does anything special need to be done? I do my own maintenance and I was just going to wait for the DIC to hit 10% again and then read the manual. Other than I'm going to rotate my tires, I didn't plan on doing anything special.
