Synthetic Oil

Synthetic Oil
Does anyone know any pros or cons in using synthetic oil in my 2009 2LT? I have used this type of oil for years in all my vehicles. I am not sure if this is a recommended oil by the factory for the 2.4L engine. Any info would be appreciated.

M1 is good for 10K miles plus between changes.
Not much more expensive than dino oil at Walmart $25 per change.
Less visosity breakdown.
I change my NAPA gold filter @ 5-6K then both the oil/filter at 11-12K.
The NAPA guy said he has a customer that uses it for 20K.
No way, 12.5K the max for me.
Saving a few $$ is not worth wearing out my motor.
M1 + (2) NAPA Gold for 12,500 miles works out to 32.8¢ per 100 miles

Ive used mobil 1 since my first oil change also and I have the 2.2. I personally use the OLM to judge when to change my oil, nomally let it get to about 15% then change it, roughly 10,000 miles between changes. As for being the recommended oil for the engine as far as I know you just need an oil that meets or exceeds GM standards and Mobil 1 is for sure in that. Dont they use that stock for some of their higher end cars and even the HHR SS comes with mobil 1 in it doesnt it?

I've been using M1 on my '06 2.4L HHR since the second oil change (first one was a freebe from the dealer) My last oil change was at 11000 mile interval. DIC said 27% oil life. I had done a lot of long distance driving between March 09 and Aug 09.
It will cost ne ~$30 to do it myself while the dealer wants ~$90. All too easy to do it myself.

For 'normal' driving, any synthetic oil will work..its mostly a personal choice....do the research and decide on your own feelings......its funny how some syn oils are better then others but ALL syn oils are better then straight dino oil..so, with that in mind, does it really matter with a stock daily driver?
