Synthetic oil, which brand?
My HHR is almost due for it's first oil change and I've decided to go with a full synthetic from the start. But I'm not sure which brand. I'm undecided between four brands, Mobil, Castrol, Quaker State, and Valvoline. So my question is, of the four brands listed, which, if any, do you feel is better and why.

I've always used Mobil 1 in cars that require a full synthetic oil. It seemed to help my wife's Mazda 3 run a little smoother on start up during the winter and made the lifter tick a little less noticeable. It's what I'm gonna use in mine when it comes time for me to change my oil.

Don't know why, but Mobil 1 has always been a good reputable brand. Besides, it's what GM puts in the new Corvettes and such...

Mobil 1 for the HHR SS
I like Pennzoil or Castrol as a rule for my other cars and trucks, but for my HHR SS I only use Mobil 1. Main reasons are that "Mobil 1" is written right on the oil filler cap and it also is listed as an acceptable equavilent in the owner's manual on Pp 5-18.
As per the 2008 owner's manual:
only an oil that meets GM Standard GM4718M.

Do a search for oil comparisons, compare all the pro's cons and prices and buy the one that suits you best....there is no RIGHT oil for these cars , there are many that will work just fine and last a long time. Keep in mind what your driving and under what conditions .Since your a dino motor any syn oil should be fine.
