Yeah, my dealer would give you one about a month after your purchase of a car, and I had to use it before they got closed down...

Our local Chevy dealer has a "lube, oil and filter special" for $14.95. The only problem is they use "bulk" oil. While the local Walmart sells Mobil 1 for about $23 for five quarts. I thought about just buying the oil I want and having the dealership do the work, but then I wouldn't know for sure if they had actually used the oil I purchased. So I'll just change it myself.

Yeah, it'll cost more, but I put a LOT of miles on my car so I'd rather pay a little more just to be sure that it's going to last.

The funny things is, I've thought about that. If you have them put Mobil 1 in, even if you pay for it all there, how do you know that's what they put in? How do you know they didn't just charge you more, and put the cheap crap in.

Part of the reason I do it myself. The other part is because I love doing it!

I use Mobil 1 in both in both my HHR and '97 Jeep cherokee. Oil changes at 7500k miles.
Here is a pic I took when I dropped the oil pan on the Jeep at 120k miles.

Note the oil pick up screen. The pan was dropped while I had the front axle down for some suspension work. This engine never leaks oil or smokes.

BTW, When we pulled my Original motor out of the Z28, they pulled the heads off and it was not even marked or worn. The only reason I pulled the motor was because I wanted a more powerful motor. The original motor had 143K miles on it and nitrous was on it from the time it had 30K miles. Lots of 1/4 miles times on that motor. No leaks or Oil burn. Mobil 1 baby

I've been using Mobil 1 in the HHR since new. The last oil change I did myself in March and have 8000+ miles on the oil and DIC says 35%. I have done a loy of highway driving. The 2.4L is the easiest car I have ever owned to change my own oil. The dealer wants $89 for synthetic oil and I can do it myself for less tha $30. Walmart ususlly has Mobil 1 for $22 for a 5 qt jug.
