Interesting the GM procedure indicates SIX detentes. Most everyone on this forum, including me, suggests 3.
But note: I have never had a problem with my "auto adjusting" rear brakes since the first year. While the drums were removed for painting, I disassembled, cleaned and lubricated the adjusting mechanism with a Teflon type grease.....stayed functional. Or as GM's corporate statement goes, " functions as designed".

Be that as it may, here's a pic of mine when I had the console out. I remember seeing the adjuster at that time.
