I checked redline oil's page and they don't recommend between oil change filter changes. But they also don't state you can go 50,000 mile on an oil change....... more like 7500. I've no idea what the OP is doing....... Stress testing the Ecotec, maybe?

I just don't believe it. I really don't think the engine would last that long, it'd sludge up and blow. If it is true, I guess we have really good dependable engines. Perhaps he meant 5,000 and 7,500?

X2. I don't think he'd make it to 50,000 miles without changing the oil. The engine would have probably burned up by then. If not, he's a very lucky person. Isn't an engine like $5000??

Red Line recommendations

This is culled from Red Line's FAQ section:

Q: How often should I change my Red Line oil?

It depends on how you drive. If you do a lot of city driving or low speed/low frequency driving, we recommend oil changes at 7500 miles. Vehicles that see more highway driving can go a maximum of 15,000 to 18,000 miles with an oil filter change in between. Modern filter technology and the latest, clean-burning fuels have reduced the solids that contaminate oil, so frequent filter changes aren't usually necessary.

I'm guessing a typo in the OP original comments.....

Otherwise, don't change it now. It might the the only thing holding the motor together......

oil change?

Since Im retired now and only drive about 5000 miles per year I change oil and filter with Mobil 1 at 2000 miles which comes out to about $75.00 per year why take a chance on ruining your engine sounds pretty dumb to me.
