Question Transmission?

hello all
i have a 2008 hhr 2.4 46,000 miles on it.
runs great, drives great, the only problem i have started about 3 weeks ago. when i am going a steady speed, 30 to 40 mph the car surges, it feels like it is trying to down shift or upshift. when i speed up it does not do it. i park in the same place every day and see no leaks from the transmission or anything else.cranks ok idles ok, any ideas?
thanks.

Check your MAF sensor, could have debris in the connections.

Okay let me take a shot. So when going around 40 which be at the shift point it surges. Does the empty gauge jump up and down? Mine did that. It would surge and the rpms would jump. To this day I have no clue what it was. It just went away. I bought mine with 30k on it. It now has 74k. I would say it hasn't done it for at least 15,000 miles now.

Pending on how your driving, what road your on, RPM your at, at 40 mph your torque converter will engage so that could be causing the "surge" you feel. Sometimes it's way more noticeable than other times. I hardly notice it now but at times I feel the surge of the torque converter.

I have a 2010 with 69k and yesterday it started to make a noise that sounds like it would/could be a wheel bearing. The sound is coming from the left front side and starts at aprox 30mph.. it kind of sounds like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle.. not near as loud.... I plan on checking the bearings this weekend... BUT after reading a few posts here I am afraid it may be the tranny....
THOUGHTS??

Mine sometimes does that when I'm coasting on like an off ramp. Very rough but it doesn't do it all the time.
