Unknown Oil Leak
#11
Well my boyfriend lives 2 hours away so that ain't happening today. I ain't afraid to get dirty I was under my Dodge Charger numerous times before it was totalled. The Charger just seemed to have more clearance for my body parts. The higher I raise a car now the more leary I get. I need to see if the ex took the ramps. 🤔

You had said previously to look under the cover. I will have a look at the crankshaft once I am done digging in this shed. I seriously don't understand why one person needs four chainsaws and five leaf blowers. You only have two hands. 🙄

I pulled out my floor jack and raised my...I need to give this pain in the ass a name...😂 Don't get me wrong...I love this car despite all the crap I have been through. 🤔 Maybe it's haunted...that's another story cuz I don't think I have shared that. I digress...I raised it up high enough so I could pop out the plastic fasteners. I noticed prior that there was fresh oil on the oil pan. I pulled the cover back and 😷🤢...yeah it's bad. It's been bad a long time by the looks of it. I am attaching pics so you can see what I see. I am also sending a pic of my hands to prove I did this myself....I ain't afraid to get dirty!
Awe...you guys got me a crown...

Yep , bad crankshaft seal! An easy job to change it , remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer bolt, slide off the harmonic balancer, pop out the seal with a screwdriver, tap new seal into position replace the balancer and torque the bolt , then put all that plastic splash guards back , but prior to that give that oil residue a squirt of either Dawn dish soap or Spray nine, brake cleaner spray works also!
Thanks for pointing out my spelling error, I meant on the front cover not in the front cover! It’s all good , you have found the problem!
BTW , get an AC Delco seal , I had a Felpro seal fail after 6,000 miles.

I had surgery less than two weeks ago...so I am not trying to do anything too strenuous right now. But I think I can handle this one. And I am fine...it was to test for cancer. And sorry guys...y'all are gonna have to put up with my silliness. No cancer here!

I wasn't pointing out an error I thought I misunderstood something. I am learning as I go. Keep dropping those crumbs I will get there!
