Where to get HHR GM OEM suspension parts
#13
The part number you have, 22735636, is listed, for HHR FE1. I looked up 2 or 3 of the alternate part numbers, they were listed as for other vehicles (Cobalt, Pursuit, et al).
The PDF in our part number forum showed 22712125.
I found this about that number.

What is the deal with the FE5 suspension for HHR 2008-2010 ? Parts number 25798126. Available everywhere. The spring looks similar to the other ones.
My understanding from the moog springs mentionned above is that all springs with numbers : 10376189, 10376190, 21994335, 22209788, 22209800, 22209885, 22227799, 22245035, 22245036, 22735534, 22735634, 25798126, 25833647 are exactly the same, right?
So now I have the 25798126 from ACDELCO GM OEM avalaible... only for HHR 2008-2010 ? This is confusing. I think it would fit my HHR 2007. Same exact springs. Correct me if I am wrong.

It has to fit. The FE1 strut I have https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...7584&jsn=11229 fits with HHR 2007-2011. So this spring 25798126 will necessarily fit with the strut. It's case closed for me. It will fit with my HHR 2007.
I am glad I can still buy GM OEM springs. I will surely get some before a stock shortage.

Ok I got it. The FE5 springs was originally made for the SS HHR. It will fit but lower the ride by about an inch.
Well... I am not sure I want to lower the ride. We have the worst roads on the planet here in Quebec and I drive my HHR 25k miles every year. Not acceptable. I think I will pass and try to find FE1 or FE3 springs instead. If you ever see some available brand new please message here or PM. Thanks. Available for Canada please.

"Fit" and "perform as designed" are 2 different concepts. 11 years removed from production I would not count on OEM parts especially with things like springs. They probably bought them "off the shelf".
Right now in 2022 GM is wishing all HHRs would just go away so they can sell new cars.

Why is this so difficult for people to understand?
When parts vendors say "fits" they’re equivocating. Weasel words. Half-truth. Or just avoiding the research and making it your problem.
Springs and dampeners are particularly influential in how you car handles, and unlike most other suspension parts, their properties can be profoundly different even when they "fit" identically.
If I were deciding on an aftermarket replacement spring I would love to know all the properties of both the original and the replacement. In the real world, the info available is closer to none at all.
Soooo… even when they say it "fits," it might suck and/or be harmful or dangerous.
SS ball joints are a much less common case, where they’re dead wrong, it doesn’t even fit, and they’re not deliberately lying, they’ve just copied some else’s misinformation, and they’re not particularly motivated to correct their errors. But not caring is just as bad, in my opinion.
