Engine Lite is on

Okay
I can not fine out why the little Engine lite stays on that is located on the Dash. I have read to Book and I have done everything the Manual says to do. Yes even open and close the Gas cap. The only thing left before I take it in to the Dearlership is to let it sit for a while, I was very low on my Dex-Cool so I put in a 1/2 a Gal. I'll let the car sit over night and see what happens tomorrow morning, Wish me luck, Has this happen to anyone else.

Take a look around the engine compartment for any loose vacuum lines/fittings. Also, look in the area where you had damage...
My dealerships service dept. is open on saturday, Phillips in Frankfort.
Route 30, and Legrange.
Try Gibson, on 159th & Bishop ford.

Take it to autozone and get it scannned. Its probably just the gas cap wasn't tight enough. Many people I know including me has got a check engine light from the stupid gas cap not being tight.

I got a check engine light because of the locking gas cap I had on there and I figured before I took it to the dealer, I would disconnect the battery and let it sit for a bit. When I reconnected it, the light was gone and haven't had any problems since then. But...then again, I did put the old gas cap back on too.

Please keep us posted.

Having 1/2 gallon short on coolant should indicate a red flag! I would definitely have the dearlers check this out! The bigger question would be is where the other coolant disappeared to?

That's what I was told when mine came on...start it like 10 or 12 times and if that didn't do it, take it for a long drive which I was leery to do since I wasn't sure if it was just the gas cap. Figured the easiest way was to disconnect the battery for a bit...and it worked. If you do that though...don't do what I did. I shut the cargo area door like nobody's business and when I went out to reconnect the battery, I had to crawl through the back seat because hatch wouldn't open without power.

Thanks every body I have done every thing that you all have said except Disconnecting the Battery, I will try that and see what happens and if not to the Dealership we go on Monday. I will keep you all informed. I will try Auto Zone 1st.

Michael
Thanks I took it to Auto Zone and they cleared the light & they said the code was the coolant wasn't hot enough. He said if it comes on again take it in to the Dealership since its still under warranty. Thanks again. I did not know that Auto Zone scans for free or that they even do that stuff.
Thank you
