Virginia HHistoRic Cruise - Sat., 10/21/06 at 3:00 p.m.
South Eastern Virginia is rich in history dating back to the earliest Colonial days. In 1607 the first permanent settlement was established in Jamestown. Williamsburg has much to visit and see and our independence was sealed with the British surrender in Yorktown. We plan to cruise the 23 mi. Colonial Parkway connecting these three historic areas. There are many pull overs with many great scenic photo opportunities.
Where to meet:
The Yorktown Victory Center is located a short distance from Interstate 64 (I-64). Eastbound from the Richmond area via I-64, exit 242B for Yorktown, to the Colonial Parkway. Follow the parkway to its end. West bound Interstate 64 from the Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton area for Yorktown should take Route 105 East (Fort Eustis Boulevard east), exit 250B to Route 17 (George Washington Memorial Highway). Turn left (North) onto Route 17. Follow the signs to the Yorktown Victory Center. Watch for this SIGN:
Food:
Pierce's Pitt Bar-B-Que was founded in 1971. They wood smoke the meat on site and their distinctive sauce recipe was brought from KY by the founder and is available to buy.
So popular is the restaurant that, for the third year running, it's been voted one of the South's best barbecue restaurants in Southern Living magazine's "Readers Choice Awards."
Pierce's info HERE
Car Show:
There is a fantastic car show just down the road in the parking lot at the Bass Pro Shop store. It runs from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and features just about any type of car from antiques, muscle cars and modern customs.
Any questions, please PM or email Jesse, as I will be out of town on business all week.

Change in meeting place!!
The meeting place needs to change due to 225 yr. anniversary events at Yorktown. The Visitor Center parking lot will be closed to the public.
New meeting place: Newport News City Park
Directions: Eastbound from the Richmond area via I-64, exit 242B towards Yorktown. Turn left at the 1st light. The park is on your right following the turn. West bound Interstate 64 from the Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton area for Yorktown should take Route 105 East (Fort Eustis Boulevard east), exit 250B. Turn left at the light, straight at the next light. Park is on right.
The rest of the plans remain the same.
C'mon out folks!!
