aftermarket downpipe to semi factory exhaust
I have intentions of modding some performance parts to the "auto" SS, not sure what to do ...
i explained in another thread my resonator was removed this winter and a 2.5 inch (i think thats stock ss size right?) stainless straight pipe was installed... question is do i just buy a 2.5 aftermarket catted downpipe and cut the flange and have it welded together and will that still improve flow over the stock catted d.p?
Or. Do i invest in a 3 inch full exhaust like i keep debating and get a 3 inch catted d.p and just get the front and rear gaskets? i dont wanna keep modding what i have and eventually spend as much as it would of been to get 3"system from the start.. but im still debating if i even want 3 inch
Hoping the 2.5 zzp welded up with no resonator will be a good thing to do vs the factory d.p i hear so many stories about...
trying to budget in a hotside i.c pipe, forged b.o.v and ttr engine mount also

One life,
Most 3in DP's flanges will match up. what you will find is a 1/4" collar at that joint and a little more heat soak in that spot, as well as, backpressure(I'ts debateable if this is good or bad). But it will bolt right up. It's three bolts at the exhaust connection point and four bolts at the manifold. Whatever pipe you order make sure it has a de-fouler, and you only need 1 O2 bung, unless you need the extra one for something else, like an off-system monitor or gauge package. A few other things to look for is the steel construstion 404 Stainless or better is good, also, very crucial as far as I am concerned, is that the DP be Mandrel and not crush bent. IMO, crush bend adds some turbulence to the flow. I'm partial to HAHN, but there are other great brands out there ZZP, Dejon, Powell, etc.
Let us know what you come up with. One of the best ways to find out about some of the brands is to look at member sigs and send them a PM to gauge their opinion of their chosen parts. Happy Modding!
