3 Bar Grill Mod tool question

So, I'm looking at hacking up my grill this weekend. Problem is, I don't really have a tool for it, and can't afford to go and spend $80+ on some fancy power tool to do it. What I'm looking for is any suggestions on manual tools that I could pick up for $20-30 at Sears or something. I was thinking something like a hacksaw, but I'm not sure it would fit between the bars. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My 2cents.. Rent a tool, to do a quick and CLEAN job, as a manual tool may leave crooked lines, and look bad...

You said you didn't have the one you used anymore.

I was planning on getting a file also, and I already have sand paper, so it wouldn't be an actual "hackjob". I did think about maybe renting a tool. I might look into that as well.

A coping saw would work well, but Ryobi makes a plunge cutter now that I don't have in my collection.

Well, after finding out the most precise thing that home depot had to rent was a sawsall, I went to harbor freight and picked up a dremel for $24.99. Guess I'll get to hackin tomorrow. Thanks for the advice guys.

Go slow speed with the Dremel or melted plastic will be a problem.

you can buy a dremel tool kit from Wal mart for around 20 to 30. the kits have quite a few things. you can also get rat tail files if you dont want to use a dremel.
hacksaw blades w handles work for the first cuts. i did the first one ever on my 06.
there used to be a how to but i dont know if it is still here

good luck

I actually don't remember what I cut mine with, but definitely get a set of detail files to clean up the cuts.
