Uncle Dannie.... Your ride is looking SWEET... Really dig the Grill the emblems and that hood ornament just sets it off.... I am going to the JY to get a old grill and mod it myself... dont want to be riding around without a grill...
where did you find the grill emblem?...

I have been looking for a replica of the grille but haven't found anything to make my 10 look more like a 49. I was beginning to think that I would have to chop and section from another to get rid of the bow tie. Also anymore options for baby moon hub caps?

Now that I finally got my HHR, I've been considering how to start personalizing it and I like the 55 script over trying to match the original Suburban 49. Could be because I was born in 55, but also because these reminded me of the rebirth of popularity in the 60's beach scene I would like to upgrade the headunit first to add the combo in-dash GPS/BT/CD for road trips like we did when I was a kid in the 60's, then work on the more inexpensive decoritive options.

Since the HHR is a retro looking 1949 Chevy Suburban, I wanted to add to the authenticity of the look. I added an authentic '49 Chevy hood ornament, as well as the chromed Chevrolet lettering from the '49 Suburban to both sides of the hood.
I also stripped all the emblems off the rear of the car, as well as the two little GM squares on the front fender skirts.
This weekend, I will remove the front grill and take it from a 5 bar to a 3 bar, and remove the Chevy bow tie. I will repaint the grill white and add the 1949 hood emblem from an original Suburban. Next week, I will remove the rear bow tie and repaint the area white to match the car and add the Chevrolet logo in red. I'll have to research the logo to see if I can recreate it. I'll post pictures of this mod when it's completed.
In the mean time, here are some photos - the last one is the before rear:
