Colgan bra - reviews?

Hey, sorry to post a new topic on something that's been covered a bit before, but I was hoping for some new input before I make a purchase.

If anyone could give their reviews on the Colgan full nose bra (SS or non-SS), I'd appreciate it. I'm looking to buy for road trip use only, not constantly on.

Also, I know clear bras are probably the way to go, but 15k miles in and with a couple nice nicks and dings on my bumper and hood (got a chunk of plastic taken out right next to my license plate driving to Dallas a lil while back), it's a little late for that. So please avoid that suggestion if you don't mind.

No bras for me. I prefer the 3M clear protection. No goofy looking cover over the front, the protection is A!, I have it on the hood, bumpers, columns, and mirrors. Keeps the factory look, but protects those parts exposed to bug contact and rock impact. No chps, dings, or errors.

I have a Colgan bra on my 07. The fit is the best. I tried the clear but found it impossible to shape around the curves. After several hours I gave up. I would definetly but the Colgan product again. Its been on a year now and I found no damage to the paint when I removed it.

Well it finally came today. Cut it pretty close to the day that it wouldn't have been any good to me since I'm leaving tomorrow morning.

Overall it looks and fits nice. Was a little annoyed that there weren't any HHR specific directions, but once I got going on it it wasn't hard to figure out what to do.

Getting the little belts and clips to do what they're supposed to do was enough to send me inside to have a beer and calm down before getting back on it though. Yikes. I don't think I've cursed at an inanimate object that much ever, and I'm a Rams fan.

Overall should be a good purchase though. The hassle of taking it on and off will be the death of me, but hopefully it gets easier once the material is used to the shape.

Colgan is the only bra to mess with but here are some tips.

#1 It will get easier once it is on for a little while but!!!!
You need to keep it tight as if it is lose it will damage you paint.

#2 Do no leave it on if it is wet. You will risk fogging the clear paint. The hot sun on the cover being wet can cause problems. It may not happen the first time but it will happen if you keep doing it.

#3 Do not let dirt get under it as it will damage the paint. Black is the worst. Keep the car waxed and only put it on before a trip and take it off once you arrrive. Even the best bra is not ment for long term use.

I have one for my black show car and I only use it on long trips. I also have sold these and other bra's on my job and have heard the many people complain becuse they did not use them as intended.

Bras are great tools to protect a car on a trip but they were never intended for long term local driving. They are not made to make a car look cool either. They are to protect a car on a long trip and over the road use only.

Many times people have to leave them on as once the paint is damages it only looks good if they keep it on.

I am not saying this to scare you but I have seen it happen too many times where a good car gets damaged by one of these. It is like a shot gun. A good tool for hunting but it can be a pain if you shoot your own foot.

You have a good tool there just use it wisely.
