color matching
Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone know of a paint that will match my victory red hhr. The color code is 74U. Or where do I need to go to get a matching paint. Any advice??

Around here, if you take yer ride to a quality paint supply shop, they will come out & put a gun on the body color & it will read what it takes to match that color....
Good part is it matches even faded paint..
Just sayin..

I don't understand. You have the color code, you have the yellow pages (look under "auto body shop supplies/paint") then add clear coat. The point of having the color code on the glove box sticker is so that you don't have to worry about matching, right? Have I missed something? Do different brands formulate color codes differently? I had always assUmed that the code was a "universal" thing, otherwise why have a "code"?
Sorry, never mind if I thought something was universal and it's not. I am interested in the information, tell me why I am wrong. I do not mean to sound like an A--.

Didn't mean to imply that you said anybody was wrong, just trying to apologize if I sounded like an A--. Please re read my post.
My thought was that they make paint codes so that there is no confusion, you take the code to any color mixing shop and they make a batch that matches that code exactly. I was asking if I was wrong because I do not know.
I often ask questions in order to learn the answers. I have noticed that questions have been taken as attacks in the past few years, but I am old enough to remember that I don't know everything YET.:dan cingchili:
Seems like every time I try to not be an A-- it backfires. I guess that means I just am an A--.

No worries im not upset. I do understand that the paint code should be fine if I take it to a shop. But as I would hope most people know and I have found out through their own experiences that nothing is the same. Paint fades etc. but from shop to shop it may vary. I have found that everywhere you go products aren't necessarily the same. But this is just my personal opinion.
