De-Badging
#22
I like em shaved also.. Very clean look. (but of course a personal choice)..
I just use fishing line, & clean up with rubbing alcohol (& not drinking it)..
Then of course, wax the area..
So easy even a caveman could do it. (wait that's Geico's thing)..
I have many badges, from along the way.. I just stick em to my tool box...

De-badging is simple. I have done it on my past 3 cars, Neon, SRT-4 and my Mazdaspeed 3.
Step 1: Take a hair dryer (not a heat gun) and warm up the badge. Essentially you are softening the glue on the back of the badge. This works even better on a hot day.
Step 2: Peel the badge off slowly, aiming the hair dryer behind the badge as you pull it away. You can use fishing line to aid in separating the glue from the panel. take your time, no need to rush.
Step 3: Once the badge is removed use some Goo-Gone to remove the residue left on the body panel. Squirt some on the glue and let it soak in for about a minute then wipe away. This make take a few times to get all the glue off the panel. Remember to use a fresh microfiber cloth and DO NOT SCRUB the glue off. You should be able to roll the remaining large chunks of glue off with your finger before you hit the last bit of residue with the cloth. Again, be gentle and no need to rush and end up scuffing or scratching paint.
Step 4: rinse the panel that you put Goo Gone onto. (this stuff will not harm your finish but will prevent wax from adhering)
Step 5: Put a coat of wax on the freshly de badged panel as the Goo Gone and extra heat will have stripped any prior wax in that area.
All my previous cars had not been de badged until at least a year after ownership and never had a problem with a ghost image where the badge was.
Hope this helps.
