Depo Headlight Seal & Tab Quality?

1st I don't have pics yet. Camera not working....

I just got my Depos in the mail. I noticed where the back sealant that is used on them to adhere front and back seems squishing out (meaning fully filling the space) in some spots and others not and where the two halves meet and you can see the space as a lighter color as if the sealant isn't squished in those spots.

When I take the bulb out and blow on the spot in question no air leaks through and the only part that fogs is the 1/8" "lip" that the sealant is visible around the light.

Also, the clear tabs for the front that clip inside the black rectangular loops...One black loop wasn't pushed all the way down over.

1. Is the sealant just in the visible lip where it squishes out or do the two pieces fit "inside" of each other so that there's sealant inside where I can't see it? I was thinking of just filling the small spot with black sealant just to be sure.

2. Are the tabs supposed to be totally tight clipped on or are they just a formality or safety measure to keep the lens from falling off if the sealant should fail?

Any advice or opinions would be appreciated.

I always go out and buy sealant and put a small even bead over top of the previous sealant just in case. Ive had mine for two weeks and havnt had a problem, I did the same thing with my DEPO's on my cobalt and i had them for two years with no fogging issue. Its a cheap and easy way to make sure they dont leak.

Eaglefreak, I just got mine in last month and on one it seems to be the same as what your saying about yours. I'm going to follow what 08ssred says.

Nope there just aftermarket made, i work in a body shop and see these all the time. There cheaper made and insurance companies love them. lol The price for a set of depos is as much as one OEM headlight.

Well, after further inspection it looks like there is quite a lot of space where the sealant isn't protruding out of the gap so i'm assuming that's normal and it's sealed on the interior. But, since I bought the black silicone window sealant I just went and filled each inch til it was overflowing anyway lol. We shall see
