Look under you ride & you'll see how the rears are wound tighter (smaller) on each end.

Thanks for the info guys! I see now where cutting the back springs wouldn't work out too well.

Just got an interior part I have been waiting on. This is polished stainless and the lettering is the same script as the 1914 Buick logo. It's about 7" long and will be perfect for the area where the bowtie is molded into the lift-gate panel. I plan cutting a rectangular hole in the panel and covering it with milk white acrylic then backlighting it with blue led lights then mounting the Buick emblem over the top diagonally like the original emblems used to be.

Sweet!

I think Mr. Buick would approve.

I wonder how many people know that DDB invented the process used in enameling bath tubs, and later in life he also invented the overhead valve engine.

Sadly he died penniless in 1929 at the age of 74.

I did not know he invented the bathtub enabling process. I had heard Buick (the company) was credited with the OHV...didn't realize it was DDB!! I Learned something new today :)

He was quite the inventor and innovator, unfortunately he lacked business acumen and left a trail of failed companies in his wake.

A fellow named Benjamin Briscoe bailed DDB out in 1903 with a $5,000 loan to save the car company. Briscoe had enough clout and financial interest in Ford, Buick, and REO...that he tried to merge them into one company called Universal Motors.

If it had worked, you might be seeing Fords and Buicks rolling out of the same factories.

Seeing Fords and Buicks built together would be weird... but if history would have played out different, that would be all we ever knew. Interesting stuff.

Not that you need any more inspiration Ben, but here's a little anyway.

The masterpiece that is the 1938 Buick Y-Job, the first concept car.
