HHR - Buick Bijou Super Progress
#293
Port-A-Walls are definitely out. My buddy that I work with, who has a number of show cars recounted the nightmares he had with them. I would rather not contend with the headaches. I definitely want white walls, but can't see paying over $200 per tire for 215/55-16's. Think I will be trying my luck with the white wall paint.

You know that might actually work... Does anyone know if plasti-dip would stick to tires? If it did, then when it got dingy to the point of no return, you could simple peel it and respray them over for fresh white walls.

From what I've read Ben, it'll stick, but it also turns brown after a week or two as the plasticizers leech out of the sidewalls.
Folks seem to have better luck with whitewall paint, and some cycle guys have had good results using white elastomeric roof paint of all things.
The key thing is cleanliness, the sidewalls have to be scrupulously cleaned with alcohol to remove all traces of tire shine, Armor All, and mold release compounds.

Well I took a Big plunge and shaved my tail lights. I am going to be replacing the HHR ones with something completely different, yet convincing as lights that would be perfectly at home on a Buick. Going to post more pics soon :)

Not going that direction with the tails at all. I am not trying to emulate the Buick Super 8 as much as I am paying homage to it. What I am trying to accomplish is a modern interpretation with some old school touches. I will get some pics up soon.
