I am wondering if there are functional windows on this thing anymore... It sure doesn't look like it.

It's in SoCal Ben, it never rains there if you believe the tourist brochures.

I wish it never rained in Indiana so I could get my car done faster!

In the winter it is absolutely soggy in SoCal, at least in LA.

Okay, so these are not the permanent lights as they were a shabby used set. But they do go into the same kind of car as the aftermarket lights that I am retrofitting to my Buick project. So they are a sacrificial lamb so to speak. The outside shape is the same, but the lense surface shape and the inside pattern of the ones going in are completely different.

I am fully prepared to be hated for cutting into the rear quarters of an HHR, but I promise it will come together :)

Thanks Mike! It'll make more sense once I have progressed further along with the rear body sculpting.

Here is a Buick for you Benji. One of my favorites. Most of us who worked at Buick loved this boattail.

Boydie

Always liked the boat tailed Riv's Boydie, is it true that the rear glass was a bear to install without breaking it even on the assembly line?

I've heard tales of horror and woe from people who have restored them only to pop the back glass in the final stages.

I graduated from the Buick Technical Training center in '71, but never worked for them (my regret). We learned everything about the '72 Riviera, and I kept my shop manual for 21 years (thrown away by my ex, during our separation, along with 10k in tools!), and consulted it for many different GM vehicles. I got hold of another manual, a few years later, but it has gone astray as well. Anyway, I would've loved to get ahold of one, when my middle-aged crazies hit me, but all I could find were just hulks by then, so I found a '66 Chevelle (my 1st choice anyway), that was barely more than a hulk. Had a fresh 327 though! I would still love to get a boattail anyway, anyday! (P.S.> I have a secret love for Buicks to this day...don't tell my Chevy only racing friends....)
