HHR - Buick Bijou Super Progress

Thanks for the additional link Boydie, but I like the looks of the Scarab more. I think the gentlemen sitting in the car are in the front seats. Cab forward designs always result in the driver being far back from the windshield.

A little something that I started on before diving into the tail lights. Still kind of up in the air on how I want to contour the lines, but the semi-skirted look is definitely making the cut.

Thanks Mike! Do you see why I felt like I had to shave the rear door handle now? The new extended quarters overlap where the handle used to reside. The doors open incredibly easy from reaching back from the front door. No solenoids needed :)

Came home from work tonight to find the box containing my new tail lights sitting on the porch. Gotta love small town life... The FedEx guy wouldn't dream of leaving a package on the porch in Chicago!
I will try to post some pics tomorrow :)

Small town life is grand Ben, in Charlotte they'd steal the porch before the FedEx guy had a chance to leave off a package.
Here in the 'Burbs they leave them with the neighbors and then call you to let you know which one they left the box with...usually 5 minutes after the neighbor calls to tell you "y'all got a box dropped off from Summit Racin' again".

You certainly have a talented hand to eye coordination.
I never liked the character line on the fenders of the HHR; the line about 5 inches down from the body. I would have rather that part of the fender be completely round sans character lines.
This character line takes the design from the 40s/50s to modern design IMHO and would have looked more like the original panel it was designed after - if it had been rounded.
The thin modern day metal used on the car probably neccesitated the character line for stength but I still don't like it. Most character lines are for strength not looks.
I originally thought I would remove that line and round it out on the fenders but at 71 it would be more work than fun.
The second thing I have never liked are the front lights. I would have designed the car with headlights like the original 49/50s headlights.

Yes, I agree the scarab looks better than the Dymaxion. And the Dymaxion was a three wheeler. Three wheelers have never works for Automobiles.
