11BlueJ,
Thanks for your kind words...really nice compliment!!!
I haven't seen the V8 thread, I will try to find it.
I am adding some interior "luxury" touches that I feel make this wagon a little more Buickesque... So I guess I misspoke earlier 843de, I am doing a woody treatment to my ride!... On the inside :)

Here's an idea for you to think on Benjiwah, back in 1948 Buick stylist Ned Nickles added the first Ventiports to his personal Roadmaster convertible, then for extra flash he installed amber bulbs in each port. When the engine was running, the lights strobed in time with the firing order of the engine.

GM's Vice President Harlow Curtice saw the car and ordered Ventiports on every Buick starting with the '49 model year. Once you have your ports installed, how about lighting 'em up for some extra flash when you go cruising.

That doesn't sound half bad 843de. I already have made the Buick emblem for the center of the grill back lit with blue l.e.d. lights as well as blue l.e.d. Shining down on the license plate, and I am fabricating aluminum running boards with B U I C K across the top and back lit in the same blue. After i get all planned elements in place, I will see if it needs more accent lighting. The bowtie on the rear hatch door panel is also being replaced with a milk white acrylic sheet with the original script version Buick lettering CNCed out of polished stainless steel with blue back lighting too.

Here is the beginning of the rear spoiler mock up. It will make more visual sense once I refine it and add the side extensions.

Ventiports

843de

I found out that indeed Buick called the holes Ventiports. I wonder if they were they working vents? It is easy to see why they ended up being called "portholes" or simply '"ports". I worked at the Buick and we usually just called them "holes".

I have a coffee cup, ball point and zippo lighter with the Buick logo on them around here somewhere. When and if I find them they are all yours Ben. Can't think of a better place for them to go.

The Ventiports were functional on the 1949 Buicks built before the end of December 1948.

I've never seen a breakdown of exactly how many of the 400,000 Buicks built for '49 rolled off the line with the functional ports.

Of course they were only functional in a "sort of" way Boydie, in theory they let hot underhood air out, in actuality they let crud from the front wheels spray out on the sides of the car.

The decision to go with solid dummy ports came down to money, the blanked off pieces were cheaper to make, and you know that the bean counters always win.
