Like the car but don't like the open wheel wells. And imagine cleaning the inner fender every time you drove it. It looks open behind the headlights too.

You can certainly see Buick in the hood.

Boydie, you are right, that would be a major pain to keep that car looking clean and free from paint chips. That is why I would've loved to see how they would've interpreted the design in production form. I also think that those open fenders are what inspired Mike to imply that the concept was a bit mental.

Folks who had the original '53-'54 Skylarks had enough problems keeping their inner fenders presentable. When you see them at shows, they are always brought in on trailers, once around the block is enough to chip up the paint in the wheel wells.

Beautiful cars, but nightmares to keep in perfect condition.

That is definitely one gorgeous car! Makes me really itch to get my project done! Alas the past few days I have had off of work have had me busy working on reorganizing my garage so I can work on my project in the winter. All storage is being moved to the opposite side of where I will be working on the Buick to help make cleaning up the sanding dust a much easier task.

Just a little inspirational eye candy Ben, and something unusual for 1957, a fully optioned Roadmaster in a solid color. This Seminole Red beauty was photographed in the lobby of GM's Art & Color department.

The thread has been plenty productive... I would say it is my progress updates that have not. Hopefully I will have something interesting to post this weekend :)

Here is a very primitive rendering (that I did on my phone at work) that gives a rough idea of the direction I plan on taking the side view body work. I am curious to hear what you guys think :)

Dang son, that's gonna be so cool! You're an artist Ben, and it shows.

I bet you already have plans, but the only thing I'd change would be to loose the HHR "Elephant Ears" AKA mirrors, they're the only giveaway to what it sprang from.

Thanks Mike!
I thought about changing out the mirrors, but being a bolt on item, it is very low on the priority list. Far too many other fish to fry that need resolution before I can think about changing the mirror.
