lambo doors (Chevy HHR)

I don't know about you but...
i think they look great on an hhr, could be because i have them,
could be because i can't open my doors without a crowd of people asking questions or gawking, could be because i win car shows, or....
it could just be because it's cool!
go HHR's
contact me to see my car with the doors up or go to my gallary! or with questions about the doors functioning or where to get them how to get them pricing anything!
Don't get ripped off!

I was going to PM you caponecar, but I somehow can't seem to get it working. PM me with the details too, I would love to mix this in with a shaved door kit

"Lambo doors" are a car show gimmick that adds a ton of weight (the hinges usually weigh 50+lbs apeice), and decrease performance and gas mileage. The aftermarket installs are usually done with off the shelf hinges that look cool at first, but upon closer examination you'll see that they swing and rock in the wind like they're gonna fall off the car. You have to lift them yourself, with the assistance of the hydraulic piston which I've seen blow. If the pistons are strong enough to lift the door (even very slowly) under their own strength, you better have monstrous triceps if you plan to close them. If the pistons blow, try getting in and out of your car when you have to lift up and support the full weight of the door during ingress and egress. Installs are either a pain in the ass or prohibitively expensive. I have installed them and adjusted them on two celicas, and it's a stupid mod not worth the work or the money. Get some forged name brand wheels, coilovers, a quality set of tires, custom upholstery, a stereo system, a turbo kit... just don't waste your money on these.

Re-reading my post, I want to clarify that my intention was not to insult those who have vertical doors. Capone's doors do look like a very nice (and expensive) install. Still, I think the money could have been better used elsewhere.

if I had the money to do it or the skills to do it my self, I would like to see the front doors stretched some, eliminate the rear doors and make the front ones suicide. in essence turn a 4dr into a 2dr
