You know, I like it. Looks great with the blue, and makes your ride unique too.
But I also agree about the side view. I had a blue '87 Firebird that was 2-tone, and I looked up a photo of one just like it, and it looks good as long as the color goes from front to back. Check out this photo:

It would take some painting, but it could look great. You could Photoshop it first to make sure.
If you color-matched them, your ride would look like every other HHR with running boards.

Thanks folks for the recommendations. Ben is pulling the running boards off this afternoon and bringing them to the painters in the AM. Should have them all painted up and mounted back up for the Ebbetts Pass run/morning meet and our Disneyland trip/Ruby's So-Cal meet next weekend.
We'll post more pics after they return although they wouldnt be any thing new you all havent seen before. So stay tuned.
