Okay the running boards came back from the painters and are now hung back on permenantly. Now the car looks more 'complete'. Check that mod off the list.

i like the running boards, and i don't like the running boards. does that make sense?
i like the look (of mine) without, but think they do add to the car, almost giving it an "updated" look.

They save you from the rear fender rock chips...

I agree with you, The HHR does have a 'clean look' without the running boards.

I couldnt agree with you more, We really disliked the dreaded 'rear fender rock chips'.

Thanks for inspiring me on the other thread. Personally (and I'm a newbie to this stuff so take that in stride), I LIKE them being silver. I think if you extended the silver up around the wheel wells (these chrome things I saw somewhere recently), it would complete the long line of silver along the side and up around both wheels and it would look rockin' cool.

Mine blend in and I kinda was thinking of painting them different color to match gradient paint I'm considering, spoiler (can't decide on low or high) and anything else I can get my hands on.

I'm probably suffering from newbie-wanna-max syndrome. But honestly, your car would look cool either way.

UPDATE: Oh, I had gotten so excited that I responded without finishing the thread. I didn't see that you painted them, Nancy. Why can't I find an embarrassed emoticon when I need one! It looks good colored too!
