I have those rectangle portholes on my PT Cruiser convertible and they look sharp on both cars.

Here is mine. I have seen the port holes sold for 75 bucks. I actually paid 30 dollars from AutoBarn.

I like the look, but I am of the school of thought that if it's a scoop, porthole,or other type of hood air device it's got to be functional as well.I wonder what that body shop up the street could do for me...hmmm.

Actually, I am from that same school. Especially for scoops. I am waiting for someone to make a carbon fiber or fiberglass hood with functional scoop for the HHR (plus I would like to save some weight).

But, as for the portholes---I looked into it, and it would be impossible to make them functional, since the hood overlaps with the raised lip around the motor. And, besides, nobody has functional portholes-even the factory ones are just for show. In fact, remember the hood louvres on the 70's Camaros and Novas-they were just for show, also. There is no way I would have paid 70+ dollars for the portholes, but when I saw them at Autobarn for cheap (either 20 or 30 bucks) I could not refuse. And on my red HHR, I believe they really pop. But I do wish they provided some engine cooling

If you guys were going to do the port holes correctly, you would only use two per side as you're packing a four cylinder, not a six or eight.

Anyways, I kind of like the ports on the Buick Enclave concept from last year (though I am not sold on putting them on my HHR:

Don't really care for the port hole look... But I love the Chevrolet script.

Funny, I started this thread way back when I was deciding between script and portholes. I finally went script as seen here:

Not that I don't mind the port holes. They look fine too!
Lee has done his part with our Red HHRs and his looks just fine with portholes. We'll have to take a few pics of our rides side by side when we finally get together Lee
i LOve thos eflames Lee!

I'm dreaming of a future Buick convertible with portholes!

Looking forward to it, Robert. We are trying to combine it with a visit to the Seaport-hopefully within the next few weeks, now that the weather is finally getting warm. Still trying to get my work finished from the accident, too. (The collision shop still needs to finish the gas tank vent, plus I may have issues with parts they claim to have replaced but did not).
