Suicide hood..reverse flip
#11
back in 2007 i installed a reverse hinge kit on my other 06 car ( not HHR) the person that made the kit is out of Dover Delaware.when i look at my HHR i dont see why it should not work.the hood on my other car comes all the way in front of the bumper so i can show the painting on the hood

Back OT:
The Tilt fr end would be extremely cool..but agree with db/sb, would be a real challenge where to mount all the stuff..
Old days was easier for that..lol

That would allow clearance for opening.. imo.

thats why the hood has to come forward first..or do the body work..I have come across this idea before..more of a flip flop but I could live with it..400$ isnt bad..id probably spend more than that tryin to figure this out but Im willing to give it a shot..once I get a better look at the design Ill know if it will work or not..

I'm still around, the buick hinge is what I was thinking of using as well. Alot of modification work to make it work, but it could be done.
They pop open at the front, then you pull it forward and tilt it fully open.
I looked at 2 "Kits" available, that are supposedly "Universal". The problem with them I thought was, youd still have to do alot of modifications to the Kit to make it work.
Mainly Narrowing the whole setup, because they are set up pretty Wide the main cross bar. Most Kits are Wide, built for old full framed cars/trucks, with a much wider radiator support.
Your on the right track, find an old Buick hinge and a few other GM cars used that system at a junk yard for less than a Kit and have at it.
I want to do it to mine too. You definately Need it to open and move forward to clear the Bumper and the Grille.
It is definatly a Doable Project.
Keep me post on your progress, and take LOTS of Pics as you go.
