Heated Seats Help

After reading the thread about add radio controls to the steering wheel. I was thinking maybe you can do this with heated seats. So I called 2 Local chevy dealerships inquiring if the seats I have installed come with heating elements pre-installed, so I can just add harness and switch. The parts guy ran my VIN to see what my HHR has installed. My 1LT has premium deluxe buckets. So I asked the what is the part# for ones with heated seats. This is where I was thrown off. The part number is Identical to the ones w/heated seats. To have heated seats installed at the dealership is $700

So does anyone who has heated seats or some insight please let me.

Are your seats leather? I thought all of the leather seats were heated, that was part of the package.

$700 isn't bad for the upgrade considering sticker is right at $1000 for the leather seats.

I thought all leather seats were heated also. Now maybe in the cloth seats the wires are in place under the floor but I would think you would still need to buy the heating element

My seats are cloth. I have two connectors hooked up to each seat underneath. I know one of them is the seatbelt chime, but it has too many wires for something simple like that.

GM does offer some cars with heated cloth seats, but not ours. I think only with the leather. The other wires are likely to be for the weight sensor for the dual stage airbags. At least that would be a good guess.

My worth, drivers side is wire are for the power seat, as for the ones on the other side my guess would also be for the air bag sensor.

Underneath both seats there are 2 wires in the HHR. I know in my 04 cavalier there is a wire underneath the drivers seat for the seatbelt chime.

If there are 2 wires under both then drivers would be seat belt/air bag chime and power seat maybe, passanger seat would be air bag and seat belt

I dunno, my wife always puts her seatbelt on before I can even get in the car. Mainly because she doesn't like the way I drive. Next time I stop in at my dealer I will look at one with heated seats then one with without to see if there is a difference. Maybe someone can upload some pics of the difference.

Do you want heated seats or just the controls on the steering wheel?
Whats the advantage to moving it up to the steering wheel, how often would you change the setting? I can forsee a major wireing job, for what purpose?
