48" Recon LED's

Finally got a chance to install these over the weekend. Weather has either been wet or cold and windy lately. They are Recon 48" LED's that function as both running lights and turn signals (sorry no signal vid). They fit perfectly in the instep of the running boards. Did have to drill a hold in the front corner of each instep to run the wiring harness. Wiring runs over each wheel well to the front parking lights. SO it is all hidden and protected inside between the inner and outer fender. Not the best shots, hard to get lighting at night without using a tripod, but you will get the general idea. Something I have though about doing for a while and finally found the lights that would fit. Not for everyone, but I like the results, the pics don't do it justice.

You can see how much brighter the LED tails are.

Looks good!

Would it be any more difficult to wire those into the fog lamps?

These are a three wire hook up, running, signal, and ground. Would be nothing to wire the running and ground directly to the fogs. Then they would only turn on with the fogs. I almost did that, but decided to go with the normal lights. I did run the grounds to my fogs since that was all my wiring to begin with. Easy to to solder that part in. NIce part is, since they fit perfect on the back part of the running boards, they are almost hidden during the day, unless you have the turn signals on.

So any more details on where and how much for the set of lights?

I got these on EBay. Prices really vary and I finally found these for under $100 shipped. Not cheap, but Recon makes a good lighting product. They also have more than just the 48" size, but the instep on the HHR is 48" and once you make the hole for the wiring, it fits corner to corner of the instep. They come with mounting clips, but I didn't want to drill all that to the body, so I just used 3M tape.

If you look on EBay for them, 99% of the time they are Recon's listing and direct you back to their web site. I just kept watching until I found one with shipping included. I only see one there right now though.
