Freshly Zaino'd and (almost) Road Ready
Freshly Zaino'd and ready for 1350 hard miles later this week.
I'm going to give Duplicolor's new product, 'Shield', a try for the trip. It's a temporary 'bra' that washes off easily (not in the rain-- with a pressure washer or soap and water). If it doesn't protect from stone chips, well-- at least the buggies should be easier to rinse off.
Pictures of how that looks on Thursday, unless I run out of time.

On another note-- wow, this car holds a lot of stuff... my previous car would already be full and I'd be shipping boxes North. Should make for a much more comfortable ride (no sharing elbow space with stuff that almost didn't fit in the car...).
3+/- month working "vacations" require heavy packing... one of the reasons I bought this car. So far, so good.

Duplicolor Shield
Roadtrip test of Duplicolor Shield... a temporary bra
I bought 1 can of black and 1 can of clear, because I wasn't sure quite how clear the clear would be.
I'm on schedule to actually leave when I'm supposed to, so here are the pics:
I masked off the lights, the grill, the top of the windshield.. and behind the sunroof.
After I took the pictures, I changed the hood so the mask more or less followed the yellow line.
The bumper was sprayed black, then I removed the mask from the grill and sprayed that, the mirrors, and in front of the sunroof (lots of bugs land there) with the clear.
The clear has temporarily changed the chrome to look surprisingly like the Satin finish.
The clear on the roof in front of the sunroof looks very much like primer-- moreso than the black on the bumper.
Cleanup is easy-- it rubs right off. makes it hard to believe it's really going to do any good. Time will tell.
Looks pretty decent-- here's the pic:
The color and shine of the car show through a bit, even with the black.
Anyway, will update with results as soon as I can. I leave tomorrow morning.

When I get to my destination, I know I'll have the energy to quickly rinse the stuff off with a pressure washer. I'm pretty sure I won't have enough energy or patience to immediately scrub at bugs all over the bumper and hood... maybe some, but-- I know how I get after spending 20-30 hours in a car. Talk about your bad attitudes-- you don't want to run into me then.
Some trips the bugs are really bad-- some trips, hardly any at all. Just luck.

I read enough reviews and info [from others who've used it] online to know that at the very least, when you want it off, it washes off very easily. That was my main concern.
