My HHR at local car show today (5 Pictures)
Attached are some pictures of my HHR at a small local car show in Canfield, Ohio today. The truck in the background is my son's 1934 Dodge Pickup with Chevy 350 Ram Jet Engine and all Chevy running gear (automatic). This truck will be featured in several national magazines in the coming months. The Nomad Station Wagon belongs to Bob Darney, who built the Dodge. Also shown are my son's very original (as found in PA) 1937 Ford 2-door (street rod project for next year) and my 1951 Ford Stake Truck (all original with 23,000 miles - restored a few years ago).
I guess you can see why the HHR appealed to me! If it weren't so new, we would be installing a V-6 or V-8 engine in it by now. I wonder if this would void the warranty?? (In addition, my wife likes to drive the HHR and wouldn't want to be without it for many months). We are also working on a body-off frame total restoration of my wife's 1966 Corvette convertible. These are big projects. We have about one year in the Dodge and expect the Corvette to take about 6 months to complete.
Earlier today, I drove the HHR to the Canfield Auto Flea Market, which is nearby and cruised through the aisles - got a LOT of looks and great comments. I let one of my friends take the HHR for a test run and he was impressed. In addition this guy goes about 300 pounds and said he fit in it nicely. He said he now plans to buy one for his wife, who now has an Envoy. He is looking for better gas mileage.

obviously I have and love my HHR.:>:>, but the car shows up here are mostly geared towards the classics and hotrods. Some shows require collector plates or antique plates to enter, others don't. so unless it's a tuner car type show late models usully don't take home a trophy.

I don't normally question old car stuff...but the Chevy Wagon appears to be a Handyman Wagon and not a Nomad wagon. From all the places I have looked to verify this...the 2 door Nomad has an angled post behind the drivers door and a large one piece glass behind the front post. Here's a page that shows several station wagons from that era, including both I mentioned above.

Later I graduated to General Motors and my next new car was a 1963 Pontiac Station Wagon. I ordered it in special with the Bonneville engine and used to do well at the local drag strip. (Station wagons get off the line better, due to the weight in the back). That was one of my favorites, although my HHR is growing on me every day and seems to have a lot more power since is is broken in (now 2,000 miles).
