Unhappy Pics of my wrecked hhr

Well back in early December i got ran off the road by a dodge ram that was plowing snow, he took off like a little ***** after he realized what he did.

I ended up going in the ditch at about 25-30 mph and hit a snow buried railroad tie with the right front wheel and then slid down the side of the guard rail for about 50 feet or so.

It broke the knuckle, and c.v. shaft, bent the strut and lower control arm.
So i went to the salvage yard and picked up a complete rt. front suspension assy.
i replaced everything in the rt. front.
it sucked because it was single digit temps lol.

the body damage is getting repaired in the spring

but here are the pics.

Always sucks to get in an accident. At least you are okay and your plans for the aftermath sound cool

so far it has cost $125 for complete used susp. assy. and they "gave" me the fuel door. I=labor...$ idk. then paint etc.

not worth the annual premium rate increase for a claim plus my 500 ded, imo.

I may be mistaken, but this would be an uninsured/underinsured claim. It's usually a $250 deductible. It's not an at-fault accident so it shouldn't count against you? The body work, paint and rim will cost you way more than a couple hundred dollars.

I can totally understand why your doing it yourself. But I'm not so sure you're getting out ahead that way. You could at least have gotten a nice cash reimbursement.

No, that is not the way it works unfortunately. In WI anyway... I found out the hard way when some idiot T-boned me and totalled my Eldorado and fled the scene. I had underinsured/unisured, but the collision coverage is what covers a hit-run incident. I had just dropped the collision of course, due to high rates with my teenage drivers in the house... Dohhh!

yeah i am tring to keep a claim free record, i used to work at a body shop and was a damage estimator, i wrote estimates and handled the insurance claims for the customers. i called a friend oh mine that does the same job but for my insurance company, we both came to the conclusion i may pay a little more or less or break even but still better than having a claim against my insurance. my comp & coll. deductibles are both $500, well were both $500 now they are both $250 starting this month(only raised my premium $63 a year lol)

in retrospect i should have let the guy destroy my whole left front and side, it would have been a total possibly.. under his insurance....
then i would have gotten an ss.

oh well spur of the moment ya know? coulda, shoulda, woulda......

thanks everyone
