Some parts reminds me of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs.

I like how you were behind a Jeep with Florida plates.

I'm heading to the mountains this weekend. Nothing like that, just Asheville NC. We haven't decided on what car to take, maybe the HHR is next for a road trip.

Beautiful Scenery!!! But I'm with Karen, we went to the Badlands and they have a drive that has 13 or 14 checkpoints where you can get out and take pics. After the 1st checkpoint we headed toward the second and the edge of the road became the dropoff of the cliff . We never made it past the 2nd checkpoint

Nice pictures. I did that trip back in '87 in the summer. Overcast windy day on the mountain but didn't meet any other cars, so foggy towards the top that we could hardly see, found the parking lot but fog was so thick we had to sit a minute to catch a clear spot to see where the observatory was. Did it again in 2002 but took the cog railway to the top.

Getting up is the easy part.......coming down is another story. Looks like you had fun! Hope you had a chance to ride the Cog. That's a great trip on a clear autumn day I'll tell ya.

Not quite a 3 hour ride for me from home. Nice ride up, drive the "Kank", and brake for moose! On the way back, stop at the Bear Notch Deli on 302.
